Embroidery Floss
Packaged in 5-yard, continuous-length skeins, each color is over-dyed with various colors, to produce monochromatic blends, as well as medleys of coordinating colors -- some to match the seasons! This hand over-dyed, 6 stranded cotton fiber has variegated colors enough to be noticeable, yet subtle enough to blend naturally. Because it is pliable, this fiber is perfect for cross stitch and needlepoint on many different counts of fabric and canvas. It is also works great for punch needle (1, 3 and 6 strand) and stitching on wool appliqué and penny rugs. It gives a more subtle appearance to the fine stitching on appliqué than some of the heavier fibers like pearl cotton. Weeks over-dyeds are great to use for twisted cord finishing, too, since they come in a continuous length. These fibers are not guaranteed colorfast. If you must wash the fibers see washing instructions below.

Washing suggestions to set dye colors:
To set the color by prewashing: Fill a washing pan (a large rectangular glass dish works great) half full with cold water with 2 Tablespoons of white vinegar. Soak your thread, one color at a time in the pan for 1-2 minutes. Remove the thread from the pan, and using the sink faucet thoroughly rinse residual vinegar out of the threads. Blot the threads with an old, clean towel, and allow it to dry. PLEASE NOTE: HOT WATER or using a STEAM IRON can re-activate some dyes and could cause bleeding." If bleeding occurs while soaking in the basin or color transfers to the towel during blotting, rinse the threads until the bleeding stops.
