![]() Weeks Dye Works is going Colorfast! As dyes from their inventory are exhausted, the threads will be re-dyed using the following standards: WDW Green Business Policies Weeks Dye Works strives every day to produce the finest quality and safest products for their employees, themselves and their customers. They have completed the process of certifying their company as a true “Green Dye House.” • All WDW dyes are organic and environmentally safe. • All WDW dyes are 100% biodegradable and can be discharged directly into a city’s sewer system. • All WDW dyes are made in America. • All WDW dyes meet all CA, EPA and Health regulations • None of their dyes are listed on California’s Proposition 65, nor are they carcinogenic by IARC, NTP or OSHA standards. • All of their dyes, yarns and fabrics contain no chlorinated solvents, phenols or phosphates or lead. • No chemicals are used to make fibers colorfast: Weeks uses “fast dyes,” dye selection and a proprietary dyeing procedure to achieve colorfastness on our select yarns and fabrics. Other companies use chemical “fixes” which include formaldehydes to make their yarns colorfast. Weeks does not use formaldehydes in any of their dyeing procedures. WDW is the first hand over-dye company to be certified a “Green Company” by American Textile Specialties. WDW is the first over-dye company to meet the Greening of Technology Standards. • The new process will begin with the Top 50 colors and all new colors and have the wording "COLORFAST based on Industry Standards" on the label tag. Washing suggestions to set dye colors for non-colorfast threads: To set the color by prewashing: Fill a washing pan (a large rectangular glass dish works great) half full with cold water with 2 Tablespoons of white vinegar. Soak your thread, one color at a time in the pan for 1-2 minutes. Remove the thread from the pan, and using the sink faucet thoroughly rinse residual vinegar out of the threads. Blot the threads with an old, clean towel, and allow it to dry. PLEASE NOTE: HOT WATER or using a STEAM IRON can re-activate some dyes and could cause bleeding." If bleeding occurs while soaking in the basin or color transfers to the towel during blotting, rinse the threads until the bleeding stops. Return to Weeks Dye Works Floss |
